safeguarding@lurnnet.comto report any child-safety concern.
1. Who this AUP applies to
This AUP applies to every User of the Lurnnet Service:
- Subscribers (teachers paying for Lurnnet) — accept this AUP through the Subscriber Terms at
/legal/terms(Part A). - End Users (students and TAs) — accept this AUP through the End User Terms at
/legal/terms(Part B). - Other visitors to
https://lurnnet.com— your continued use of the site is acceptance of this AUP to the extent it covers visitor behaviour.
Where you act as Subscriber, you are also responsible for ensuring that the Students and TAs in your Classes follow this AUP — your responsibility flows from the Controller / Processor allocation in Subscriber Terms §3 and the DPA.
2. Lawful use
You will use Lurnnet only for lawful purposes and in accordance with applicable laws, including:
- Egyptian Cybercrime Law no. 175 of 2018.
- Egyptian Personal Data Protection Law no. 151 of 2020 ("PDPL") and its Executive Regulations.
- Egyptian Child Law no. 12 of 1996, where the User is or is processing data of a Student under 18.
- Egyptian Telecommunications Regulation Law no. 10 of 2003 to the extent it applies to your use of the Service.
- Egyptian Civil Code general principles of good faith.
- The equivalent laws of your country of habitual residence (KSA, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait — see Privacy Policy §14).
3. Cybercrime Law no. 175 of 2018 — explicit prohibitions
Egyptian Cybercrime Law no. 175 of 2018 makes a number of online actions criminal offences. You will not use Lurnnet to do any of the following:
| Prohibited conduct | Notes |
|---|---|
| Unauthorised access to any computer system, network, or account | Including attempts to access another User's account, internal Lurnnet systems, or third-party systems through Lurnnet |
| Distributing malware, ransomware, viruses, or harmful code | Including embedding malicious payloads in submissions, links, or AI prompts |
| Phishing or social engineering | Including impersonating Lurnnet, a teacher, a TA, or another User |
| Posting content that violates public morals, "values of the Egyptian family", or public order | The bar applies to the platform's general-population content; classroom material is subject to teacher discretion within the law |
| Posting content that threatens national security or incites violence or hatred | Zero-tolerance |
| Disseminating false information likely to cause public harm | |
| Capturing, recording, or transmitting another User's private communications without lawful authority | Including screen-recording or photographing another Student's submissions |
| Identity theft or impersonation | Including using another User's name, image, or credentials |
Violation of Cybercrime Law no. 175 of 2018 is a criminal offence. Lurnnet may suspend or terminate accounts and report violations to the competent authorities.
4. Anti-abuse — general rules for everyone
You will not, in connection with Lurnnet:
4.1. Harassment, hate, and harm
- Harass, threaten, intimidate, stalk, or bully another User.
- Post or share hate speech or discriminatory content (on the basis of religion, race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, nationality).
- Engage in conduct that humiliates or demeans another User.
- Promote violence, terrorism, or self-harm.
4.2. Sexual content and exploitation
- Post, share, or solicit sexual content of any kind on Lurnnet.
- Solicit or arrange sexual contact with another User, especially a minor.
- Share sexually explicit images of any User.
- Sexualise minors in any way — Lurnnet has zero tolerance and will report to authorities.
4.3. Intellectual property
- Post content that infringes another person's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual-property right.
- Use Lurnnet to commit large-scale infringement (for example, by uploading entire textbooks or commercial-exam content without licence).
- Distribute Lurnnet's own intellectual property (the Platform, brand assets, Parent Notice template) outside the licensed use described in the Subscriber Terms or End User Terms.
How to report infringement, what we do with a notice, and what happens to a teacher who uploads pirated material, is on the Copyright page. We may remove material and suspend or close an account. Repeat infringement, or one clear dump of commercial exam papers or a textbook, can end the account with no refund.
4.4. Spam, scraping, and abuse
- Send unsolicited bulk communications.
- Scrape, harvest, or programmatically extract Personal Data (yours or another User's) at scale.
- Use Lurnnet's API for purposes other than supported integrations.
- Run automated agents against the Service except as Lurnnet documents.
- Bypass rate limits, account-lockout rules, or any other anti-abuse mechanism.
4.5. Security
- Probe, scan, penetration-test, fuzz, or otherwise attack Lurnnet's systems without prior written authorisation from Lurnnet.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive source code, except where the law makes this right non-excludable (and even then, only to the extent permitted).
- Bypass authentication, authorisation, RLS, or audit-logging.
- Share your account credentials with anyone (including with another teacher or another Student).
4.6. AI features
- Use Lurnnet's AI features to generate content prohibited by §3 or §4.
- Try to circumvent the AI safety gate (the under-17 protection described in the AI Features Disclosure).
- Attempt prompt-injection or jailbreak of Lurnnet's AI safety controls.
- Use AI-generated content to deceive — for example, presenting AI-generated work as human-only without disclosure.
- Share AI prompts that contain another User's Personal Data without lawful basis.
4.7. Misuse of the platform
- Use Lurnnet to defraud another User or any third party.
- Attempt to game the active-Student metering, the allowance hard caps, or any other Subscription mechanism.
- Use Lurnnet to operate an unrelated business (for example, an unauthorised marketplace).
- Misrepresent your role, your qualifications, or the Class you teach.
5. Subscriber-specific rules (teachers)
In addition to §§3 and 4, if you are a Subscriber:
5.1. Class authority
- You have authority to admit a User to your Class only after the User has accepted the End User Terms (and, for under-18 Students, after the parent-email-confirmation flow has completed per Subscriber Terms §12).
- You will not invite another adult to your Class as a Student or TA without the verifications appropriate to your duty of care for the minors in the Class.
- You will not retain access for a User you have removed from the Class — Lurnnet enforces this engineering-side, but you remain responsible for the timing of removals.
5.2. Lawful purposes only
- You will not use Lurnnet for purposes outside the educational service the Subscription covers.
- You will not store unrelated Personal Data on Lurnnet (for example, you will not use the platform as a contact-management system for parents of children who are not your Students, or as a CRM for unrelated business contacts).
- You will follow the controller-side obligations in Subscriber Terms §7 and the DPA.
5.3. AI use as Subscriber
- You will use AI-assisted question / exam generation and AI-assisted grading consistently with the AI Features Disclosure.
- You will offer Students an AI-graded human-review path.
- You will exercise independent judgement on AI-suggested grades — Lurnnet's AI is a draft, not a final.
5.4. Marketing to Students and Parents
- You will not use Lurnnet to send marketing to your Students or to their Parents — the Class messaging and notification surface is for educational purposes only.
- You will not use Lurnnet's Class roster as a contact list for separate businesses, side-tutoring offers, or cross-selling.
6. Minor-safeguarding rules
Because Lurnnet's End Users include Students aged 13–17, the following minor-safeguarding rules apply. They are not optional. Subscribers acknowledge these as part of their Controller obligations under Subscriber Terms §7 and the DPA; End Users acknowledge them as part of End User Terms. TAs are adults (18+).
6.1. No adult content in any space accessible to minors
You will not post, share, or link to adult content (sexual content, graphic violence, content promoting drugs / alcohol / gambling) in any Class containing under-18 Users, in DMs with under-18 Users, or anywhere else accessible to under-18 Users on Lurnnet. The bar applies to Subscribers, TAs, and Students alike.
6.2. No private 1-to-1 chat between adult Users and minor Students outside the Class context
A Subscriber, an adult TA (over 18), or any other adult User must not engage in private 1-to-1 chat with a minor Student outside the Class context. Group chat inside the Class for educational purposes is permitted; private DMs to a minor Student outside class-relevant educational use are not.
If a minor Student initiates such a private chat, the adult User will not respond on the substance, will redirect any necessary communication to the Class context, and will inform Lurnnet's safeguarding team where the matter is sensitive.
6.3. No peer-grading patterns producing reputational harm
Where a Subscriber configures peer-grading or assigns a TA to grade other Students:
- The grades and feedback shared between Students must be respectful, factual, and limited to the educational matter.
- A TA may not target a Student with disproportionate criticism, mocking feedback, or comments that go beyond the educational rubric.
- A Subscriber may not configure peer-grading as a public ranking surface.
- Patterns of TA misuse trigger Lurnnet review and may result in TA-status removal.
The Subscriber, as Controller, is responsible for monitoring TA grading patterns. Lurnnet provides audit logs through the teacher dashboard.
6.4. No storage of minor Personal Data beyond the educational purpose
You will not store Personal Data of a minor Student in user-content fields (avatar, bio, AI prompts) beyond what the educational purpose requires. The Subscriber, as Controller, is responsible for retention; Lurnnet enforces defaults but cannot enforce purpose-limitation in user-supplied free text.
Examples of prohibited storage:
- A Subscriber storing parent home addresses inside Class notes.
- A TA collecting Student phone numbers in a Class doc.
- A Student saving another Student's family details in their own AI prompts.
6.5. Mandatory teacher response to safeguarding flags
Where Lurnnet's AI safety classifier or any other Lurnnet automated system flags a safeguarding signal in a Class — for example, a Student writing about self-harm in an AI prompt that the safety classifier flags as actionable — Lurnnet surfaces the signal in the Subscriber's dashboard for Controller-side review.
The Subscriber (as Controller) is required to:
(a) review the signal within 48 hours;
(b) take the action appropriate under the local safeguarding regime (which may include speaking to the Student, contacting the Parent, or escalating to a child-protection authority);
(c) record the action taken, in or outside Lurnnet.
Where a Subscriber does not respond, Lurnnet may, in exceptional cases, escalate the signal to safeguarding@lurnnet.com for review, and Lurnnet's safeguarding team may notify a competent authority where the law requires.
6.6. No solicitation, no grooming, zero tolerance
Any conduct that resembles grooming — gradually building a private relationship with a minor Student, gift-giving, building trust to extract private information, isolating a Student from class oversight — results in immediate suspension and report to the competent authorities. Lurnnet does not provide warning steps for grooming-like conduct.
6.7. Reporting
Any concern about a Student's safety on Lurnnet should be reported to safeguarding@lurnnet.com. A report can be made by a Subscriber, by a TA, by another Student, by a Parent, or by an outside concerned party (e.g., a school counsellor or social worker). Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Lurnnet's safeguarding team may:
- engage the Subscriber for additional context;
- restrict the relevant User's access pending review;
- notify Egyptian or other competent child-protection authorities under Egyptian Child Law no. 12 of 1996 or equivalent;
- preserve evidence for any subsequent investigation.
Reports made in good faith do not result in retaliation under this AUP.
7. End-User-specific rules (Students and TAs)
In addition to §§3 and 4, if you are an End User:
7.1. Honesty and academic integrity
- You will not submit AI-generated work as your own original work where your teacher's instructions require original work.
- You will not exchange answers with other Students during a quiz or exam where the teacher's instructions disallow it.
- You will not bribe a TA to inflate a grade.
7.2. TA conduct
If you are a TA, in addition to the rules elsewhere in this AUP:
- You will use the elevated permissions Lurnnet grants you only for the educational purposes assigned by your teacher (the Subscriber, who is the Controller).
- You will not make a copy of Class data for personal use.
- You will not single out Students for negative attention.
- You will follow the §6.3 anti-harm rule on peer grading.
- You will report any safeguarding concern to
safeguarding@lurnnet.com.
7.3. Reporting
If you see something on Lurnnet that breaks this AUP, report to:
- Safeguarding (child safety):
safeguarding@lurnnet.com - Other AUP / abuse:
support@lurnnet.com - Privacy / data rights:
privacy@lurnnet.com
You can also tell your teacher (the Subscriber). Reports are confidential to the extent reasonably possible.
8. Enforcement
8.1. The enforcement ladder
Lurnnet enforces this AUP using a graduated set of responses, depending on the severity and recurrence of the violation:
| Severity | Typical action |
|---|---|
| Low (minor first-time violation) | In-app warning; clarification of the rule |
| Medium (recurring or moderate) | Restriction of specific features (e.g., AI tutor disabled for 7 days); educational message |
| High (serious or repeated) | Account suspension (temporary or permanent) |
| Critical (illegal conduct, safeguarding) | Immediate suspension; report to authorities; permanent ban |
8.2. Specific scenarios that trigger immediate action without notice
Without limiting §8.1, Lurnnet may suspend immediately and without notice (with notice given as soon as reasonably practicable) where:
- there is a credible safeguarding concern about a Student;
- there is evidence of unauthorised access (your account or Lurnnet's systems);
- there is evidence of CSAM-related content or grooming-like conduct;
- there is a court order or regulator instruction requiring immediate action;
- there is a pattern of conduct that materially threatens other Users;
- there is a complete copyright notice, or clear pirated exam-board papers or commercial textbooks.
8.3. Appeal route
If you believe Lurnnet's enforcement action against you was wrong, you may appeal by emailing support@lurnnet.com within 30 days of the action. Lurnnet reviews appeals within 30 days. Appeal decisions are made by a Lurnnet team member who was not involved in the original enforcement.
8.4. Effect on Class data
Where a Subscriber is suspended, the Students and TAs in their Classes lose functional access to those Classes pending the dispute resolution; Class Data is retained in a restricted state. If the subscription is then cancelled or terminated, the 30-day export window in the DPA applies, or longer where required by law (for example, retention pending an investigation).
Where an End User is suspended, the End User's account is suspended; the Subscriber retains access to the work the End User did under the Class, in accordance with the DPA.
9. Cooperation with authorities
Lurnnet cooperates with lawful requests from competent authorities (Egyptian and otherwise), including subpoenas, court orders, regulator inquiries, and child-protection notices. Lurnnet aims to ensure that requests are valid before complying and to limit production to what is legally required.
Where the law permits, Lurnnet will inform you of a request affecting your account before complying.
10. Changes to this AUP
Lurnnet may amend this AUP from time to time. Lurnnet will give at least 30 calendar days' notice of any change, by in-app notice and email (Subscribers) or by in-app notice and (where the Parent acknowledged the parent-email-confirmation flow) email to the Parent on file (End Users under 18).
Material changes (changes that materially expand prohibited conduct, materially raise enforcement consequences, materially shift safeguarding responsibilities) require active re-acceptance for Subscribers; for End Users and Parents, Lurnnet will give specific notice.
Non-material changes take effect on continued use after the notice period.
